Love Tarot Spread: Free 5-Card Reading

The Love Tarot spread uses five cards to look at a bond between you and one other person. It can show where each of you stands, what connects you, what stays unsaid, and a step you might consider next. It works for a partner, a crush, a family member or someone close.

How this spread works

To use the Love Tarot spread, start by thinking of one person and one bond. It can be a partner, someone you are getting to know, a family member, or someone from your past. Hold a simple question in mind, such as what is going on between the two of you right now. Then draw five cards and lay them out in order, from You to The next step.

Read the first two cards side by side. They reflect how you and the other person may be showing up, not who you are forever. The third card looks at the space you share, and the fourth at what neither of you has said out loud. Take your time with that fourth card. It often asks the gentlest questions.

The last card is not a verdict. It offers a step you might take, or a way of looking you might try. Keep in mind that the other person’s card shows your picture of them, since only they know their own heart. Notice what feels true, and let the rest go. You decide what fits.

The positions

  1. I
You. The You position shows how you may be standing in this bond right now. It can point to your hopes, your fears, and the mood you bring. Think of it as a quiet look in the mirror, without judgment.
  2. II
The other person. The other person card looks at how they might be showing up in this bond. It reflects your sense of their feelings and needs, not a reading of their mind. It can help you see them with a little more care.
  3. III
What’s between you. What’s between you points to the bond itself: the shared ground, the patterns, and the pull or distance you both feel. It looks past each of you alone. This card can show what the connection needs or what it is made of today.
  4. IV
What’s unspoken. What’s unspoken asks about the feelings, wishes or worries that stay below the surface. They may belong to you, to the other person, or to both. Gently naming them, even only to yourself, can make the whole picture clearer.
  5. V
The next step. The next step offers one small move you might consider, like a talk, a pause, or a change in how you listen. It is a suggestion to weigh, not an instruction. You choose whether it fits where you are.

Why this spread

I made the Love Tarot spread with five cards because a bond is more than two people. Giving each of you a card, and then one to the space between you, keeps the reading fair. The unspoken card makes room for what is easy to miss. It suits questions about one specific person, when you want to understand rather than predict, and to end with a step you can actually take.
